I've been wanting to post about a friend of mine that needs any help she can get. I think most of you who read my blog are mothers so this story will probably touch you as much as it has me. Carol and I lived down the street from each other growing up. For some reason I always thought she was so cool and we seemed to get along good. As we both grew up we lost contact until one of our mutual friends told me about her tragic story a few months back. Carol contracted a very serious infection while pregnant with her second daughter. She has since lost both legs from the knee down, her left hand, and her sight. You can visit the link on my side bar and http://www.komonews.com/news/28125714.html?video=YHI&t=a for her full story. If you can help please do and pass the word along.

Then and NOW
Here are a couple of Trenton's friends that have known each other since they were 6 months old. As most of you know Trenton has started Kindergarten and loves it. Halle is the little girl with blond hair and Spencer is the boy with blond hair both of which go to Trenton's school also and are in Kindergarten at the same time. It's so fun to have friends you know.

BYU vs. UW
We had a great time with several of our friends from our ward. We all got tickets to the BYU vs. UW game and boy was it a good game. I never thought that I would enjoy a college football game but I was wrong. Brent also enjoyed it and we don't even like sports....except.....HOCKEY! GOOOOOO COUGARS!

A big 1st at the Martell's ---SCHOOL!
WE all survived! I can't believe I actually survived a morning on my own without two little sweethearts tagging along. Trenton and Crew both started school today. Trenton had no worries just couldn't wait to get there and get in his class. He was awake at 6:00am asking when it was time to go. Crew on the other hand loved taking Trenton to school but wasn't quite sure about going to his big pre-school all by himself. He cried when we left but was having a great time when I got there to pick him up. His first comment was "why you not stay with me....you not go home". SO dang cute. I love to see my boys start new adventures in their lives but it breaks my heart when I am not with them. So here's to a great first year of school.

Spiderman Spiderman Spiderman
Crew is turning 3 on Tuesday the 26th so we had the festivities a few days early. It was so perfect and he had the best time. Crew is crazy about Spiderman and loves to bounce and jump so we rented the Spiderman bounce house and boy was it fun. I don't think Crew got out of it for the first 3 hours. My sister brought their water slide so the kids had so much fun jumping, swimming and bouncing around. We bribed Crew with gum to get him to come open presents and do the pinata. He got everything a 3 year old could want and more. Thanks to all our friends and family. It will definitely be a birthday to remember.

109 Degrees of pure sunshine!!!!
I was in seventh heaven this past weekend. A friend of mine goes to Palm Springs every year to have some R&R. I was lucky enough to get to go with her this year. We left Thursday morning early and arrived in Palm Springs by 1:30 it was wonderful. I spent most of my time in the lazy river soaking up some good California rays. I must say I could get use to that. We ate at some good restaurants including The Chop house, California Pizza Kitchen, Las Casuelas and IN & OUT. I was also able to sneak in some Jamba when ever I could. We all had a great time. Thanks Krista & Tabby!

White water rafting!
Wow what a thrill. Brent and I went on a very fun white water rafting trip. Our friends Steve and Ang invited us to a weekend of fun. We all conquered the 10 foot waterfall and managed to stay in the boat. It was a awesome experience. Thanks Guys!
If you want to check out our play by play of the waterfall go to www.husumfalls.com and click on find my photo and then click on River Riders 8/9 PM and you should see our pics we are about #48. Brent has a purple helmet and I have a red one. I am the one ducking way before we go down the waterfall. Don't laugh!

Uncle Paul's Beach Place
This place is so much fun. We were able to go to my Uncle's beach house on the Puget Sound. McNeil Island is across from it, this is where my Mom grew up. Her Dad was a prison guard and the island is still currently used as a high security prison. We have some good stories about that island but I will save them for later. We are thankful for the fun times we have shared at Uncle Paul's beach place.
All the cousin's saying goodbye!
Crew playing in the water.......I didn't see either boy much!
This is the beach house. We sleep upstairs at the house.
